ITINERARY

Arrive at the Kathmandu Airport, TCI representative will meet and greet and then drive you directly to your hotel.
Welcome to Kathmandu, the rest of the day is at leisure. We recommend that today you get a glimpse of the soul of the city, take a walk through the backstreets, where the capital’s timeless cultural and artistic heritage reveals itself in hidden temples overflowing with marigolds, courtyards full of drying chillies and rice, and tiny hobbit-sized workshops. This endlessly fascinating, sometimes infuriating city has enough sights to keep you busy all day, but be sure to leave the real comforts and explore the ‘real Nepal’ before the first day is over. Refresh overnight at your hotel in Kathmandu.

Today post breakfast, embark on a tour of Kathmandu City also known as Kantipur which includes visits to the temple of the Living Goddesses. Kasthamandap – the source of the name Kathmandu supposed to be made from the timber of a single tree and the Durbar Square are with its array of temples overlooked by the Hanuman Dhoka Palace. Continue to Swyambhunath, the most ancient and the golden spired stupa of Swyambhunath tops a wooded hillock.
Visit the ancient city of Patan, which happened to be a kingdom in itself once and is situated across the Bagmati River to the south of Kathmandu. We will visit the Patan Durbar Square, temples and courtyards of Royal Palace. The Durbar Square offers the finest display of Newari urban architecture in Nepal. The temples here devoted to Shiva, Krishna, Ganesh and Vishnu are actively visited by residents and visitors. The courtyards of the Royal Palace with their ornamented windows, columned arcades, shrines and sunken royal bath are amongst the loveliest in all Kathmandu. Return to your hotel and spend the evening at leisure.

This early morning after a sumptuous breakfast, we will depart for Bhaktapur that is world renowned for its elegant art, fabulous culture and indigenous lifestyle. The ancient city is also variously known as the “City of Culture”, the “Living Heritage” and “Nepal’s Cultural Gem”. Bhaktapur is more like an open museum. Monumental masterpieces in Bhaktapur are innumerable, and each is more attractive than the other. The most fascinating structure here are the world-renowned 55 Window palace, golden Gate, Big Bell, Siddhi Laxmi Temple, Shiva Temple. Taumadhi Square has Nyatapola Temple dates back to 1702 AD. The colossal five storied edifice is the country’s tallest pagoda temple. We will then return back to your hotel where the evening will be yours at leisure.

Today’s post breakfast tour to Nagarkot shall leave you spell-bound as it offers you panoramic 180 degrees view of Himalayan peaks. From any clear point on the ridge, you can take in a panorama, from Dhaulagiri in the west to Mt Everest and Kanchenjunga in the east and various other ranges. It also offers an excellent view of the Indrawati river valley to the east. With an elevation of 2,195 meters above sea level, Nagarkot also offers a panoramic view of the Valley and is described by visitors as a place whose beauty endures year around. For those longing for some really refreshing environment, Nagarkot is a great place as it provides a scenic beauty and divine peace. Enjoy the rest of the evening on your own.

Today start your visit by visiting the most sacred Hindu Shrine “Temple of Lord Pashupatinath” dedicated to subcontinent’s great Shiva sites and sprawled along the banks of the sacred Bagmati River. Continue to Boudhanath, a great stupa and one of Nepal’s most important Buddhist site, with a diameter of over 100 meters, amongst the largest in the world. There are a number of legends accounting for the stupa’s construction, but it is generally believed to date from the 5th century.
Buddha is a particular focus for Kathmandu’s Tibetan community and throughout the day there is a constant stream of people circling the stupa spinning prayer wheels and reciting mantras. Surrounding the stupa are six major monasteries and a host of smaller ones as well as cafes, restaurants and shops selling Tibetan carpets and Newari silversmiths. We will then return to your hotel.
