ITINERARY

At the Paro Airport, TCI representative will meet and greet and then drive you directly to Thimpu.
Smiling faces and mesmerizing mountain ranges, welcome to Bhutan where the economy’s health is measured by Gross Happiness Product (GHP). We will take the scenic drive and treat you with views of mesmerizing mountains and flowing rivers. On reaching Thimphu, check-in at the hotel, and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Enjoy the rest of the evening at leisure or we will take you to the Clock tower square from where you can get to see the Bhutanese culture, enjoy some local cuisine or just take a stroll. Whatever you choose to do today, you are bound to have a wonderful day in the amazing city of Thimphu. Refresh overnight at you hotel in Thimphu.

Today after breakfast, we will start the day with a visit to the Simtokha Dzong – a monastery built in 1627 that today houses the Institute for Language and Cultural Studies. Next will be the Memorial Chorten which is the most visible religious structure in Thimphu and then the amazing Buddha View Point. The view of the valley from this point is as magnificent as the statue of Lord Buddha that resides on the premises. During the second half of the day, we will visit the Textile Museum to learn about the national art of weaving. Here, you will see exhibits on major weaving techniques, styles of local dresses and textiles made by women and men before moving on to the Tashichho Dzong – a strikingly large structure, surrounded by manicured lawns and beautiful gardens, which houses the throne room, offices of the secretariat and the King. After a wonderful day, spend the late evening at leisure in Thimphu.

This early morning after a sumptuous breakfast, we will C/O from the hotel Thimphu and proceed for Punakha and visit on route the Dochula pass perched at 3100m and offering a glimpse of the Himalayan range. We will also stop at the Chimi Lhakhang or the Fertility Temple. This sacred temple was made in honour of Lama Drukpa Kunley. Childless women go to the temple to receive a blessing or empowerment from the saint. It is a 20-minutes long pleasant walk from road at Sopsokha to the temple. En route, you would also cross an archery ground.
Next will be the beautiful riverside Punakha Dzong. It stands majestically on an island between the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers and is one of the most photogenic of all of Bhutan’s ancient fortresses. The dzong joins the mainland by an arched wooden bridge and houses many precious relics from the days when successive kings reined the kingdom from this valley. After a wonderful day out, refresh overnight at your hotel in Punakha.

Today, C/O from your hotel and we will drive for Paro. C/I and refresh at your hotel. Soon after, we will set you for a wonderful day of sightseeing as we will start with the Ta Dzong – National Museum with an excellent collection of arts, relics, religious thangkha, etc. This will be followed by the Rinpung Dzong which means ‘fortress of the heap of jewels’. The Dzong now serves as the administrative and judicial seat of Paro. Refresh overnight at your hotel in Paro.

We will start the day early today as we will be on our way to the famous Tiger’s Nest Temple , also known as the Temple or Taksang Monastery. Perched precariously on the edge of a 1200 m cliff, this monastery is an impressive sight and the unofficial symbol of Bhutan. The up-hill hike should take around 2 hours, so it is recommended you wear comfortable walking shoes and carry light refreshments with water. An option to ride a horse from the parking lot to the monastery is also available at your own expense. Alternately, you could also hike for about an hour to reach a cafeteria – a wooden tea-house restaurant which offers a good view of the monastery.

We will start the day early today as we will be on our way to the Haa valley which, until 2002, was closed to the outside world. Less than 10% of visitors to Bhutan make it to this picturesque valley. The strong-boned and resilient people of Haa inhabit the high valleys above 3000m. Typically yak herders and farmers, they cultivate high altitude crops such as wheat, potatoes, barley and millet. The drive from Paro to Haa passes through Chele La, the highest motorable road in Bhutan so be prepared for spectacular views. You can see Paro valley on one side and then Haa valley on the other. You can also have a picnic at Chele La if you like to. In Haa, some sightseeing and then going to katsho village and visiting the Katso Lhakhang. Haa is still the way it has always been, with Bhutanese families living their traditional and simple life. We will then return to Paro in the evening.

All good things have to come to an end but not before you grab a good breakfast as our representative will be waiting at the lobby for you with your private car to assist you well in time to proceed to the airport.
